Acht - [Action/Voice]

[One minute, Kurt was in the middle of hanging out in his room in the evening, literally upside down, reading through a book. The next, he suddenly found himself wondering why he was wasting time with books. Landing on the ground, he tosses the book aside and regards himself in a nearby mirror. He's in the same ragged clothing he's used to. He pulls the hood over his face, obscuring his features, and teleports out of the room.

After the sun goes down, a hooded figure will be prowling through the streets. His walk is a little odd, as he walks only on his toes. His tail lashes about freely behind him, often latching around objects to forcefully pull them down. He doesn't care much for regular humans, so any he comes across are likely to get a scowl. Although his face cannot be seen under the hood, his eyes will light up whenever he spots someone. He's also out to do some thievery, particularly whatever can be looted from outside a window without needing to go in. Or maybe he'll just drop by the bar and see if he can't get himself something to drink. It's not like the bartenders will withhold alcohol from something that doesn't even look human, right?

After getting bored, he decides to leave a message on the journals. Notably, his voice lacks the usual soft spoken German accent, but is now a harder, northern American accent.]

I'm getting sick of this hole. What's there to do around here for some real fun?

((ooc: AU information here. Yes, he'll be answering to a different name. He remembers Luceti and the people he's met here, although naturally these memories are a bit twisted. Also, if you want to let him steal anything, let me know. He'll be sure to give it back once he's his old self. Also, no special alt journal! Use your ~imagination~ to see him as looking a lot grungier than usual. He isn't in uniform.))

Why is that so hard to believe? Do you think I'd still be talking to you if I was lying?

I don't know what you're trying to prove here, but I don't care. So back off before I have to get rough.

What, is my caring threatening you? Would you really attack me because I'm trying to help?

I don't need your help. Especially not from you Xavier kids. None of us do. We're mutants. We want something, we can take it. [His tail goes back to the bottle, wrapping around it. He turns from her, taking it in hand so he can walk away.]

Kurt, please. [She walks up to him cautiously, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. If he lashes out at her, she's ready to phase.] You have to believe me. Whatever they did to you, you can fight it.

[He pulls his shoulder way, glaring back at her.]

You call me that one more time, I can't be held accountable for what happens next.

[She pulls her hand away.]

Why are you so angry?

Gee, I wonder. Maybe because I just wanted a drink alone.

No, it's something else. Everything about you is angry. You're like, even worse than Rogue.

[She can't let him leave. Not like this. She'll just keep analyzing him if that's enough to make him stay.]

[She wanted angry? Now she's getting angry, his eyes flare up again at that.]

I am nothing like her! Don't even compare the two of us!

[That is the creepiest thing she's ever seen. She has a hard time not reacting this time, but refuses to back off. Kurt is somewhere under there. She has to get him to snap out of it somehow.]

Then why are you acting just like her? I'm trying to help you and you're just pushing me away.

[Kurt? Kurt is nowhere to be found. Just an increasingly agitated teenager who is one moment away from attacking.]

Keep it up and I'll show you pushing.

[Well she was able to make him snap out of it the last time with a kiss. She even helped him when he was hallucinating. She's too stubborn to give up after all of that.]

Just quit the tough guy act, will you? What are you so scared of, that I might be right?

I fear nothing!.

[And with that, he vanishes in a puff of smoke, reappearing behind her in mid air, his tail already swinging towards her head. It's his goal to simply knock her out before she starts phasing.]

[At first, she thinks he ran from her, and she stares at that residual puff of smoke, feeling numb. She doesn't realizes what's really happening until it's too late, starts the phase but doesn't avoid it completely. The impact knocks her off her feet, and she lands on her butt on the floor. Stunned, all she can do is stare up at him like a kicked puppy, clutching the side of her head.]

[He reappears, back on top of the bar, crouching and glaring down at her. Does he look apologetic? No. Not even concerned. He's just waiting for her next move.]

[She's too angry and hurt to say anything more. She doesn't want to give up on him, but her throat tightens too much to speak without the threat of tears. So she gets up, backs up slowly away from him, then turns and runs, phasing through the nearest wall and back into the dark winter cold. She has to get home. She has to get help. Somehow, they have to snap him out of this, or at least stop him from hurting anyone else.]

[He snorts and then laughs derisively as she phases through a wall.]

X-Men. Meh. [Suddenly he doesn't feel like drinking here anymore. So he takes the bottle and BAMFs again.]

[Kitty full-out sprints toward home, slips and falls on a patch of ice somewhere by the clinic, but doesn't let it slow her down. By the time she phases through the front door, she's near hysterics, searching the house for anyone who isn't completely crazy because of this experiment.

She quickly weighs her options, and is almost furious when she realizes - all she has left is Rogue.

On the way to her room, she already knows how this conversation will go. She'll have an emotional meltdown and Rogue will be completely insensitive. But she'll do it for Kurt. And mostly, she needs to vent to somebody before she explodes.

Still, Kitty's certainly not winning herself any favors, phasing into her room without knocking.]

Rogue! Are you in here?

[Rogue glances up from her book.] No, I'm in Timbuktu.

[The 'How many times do I have to tell you to knock' dies on her lips as she sees just how upset Kitty is.] What's wrong?

[Not to mention that small gash on her forehead, dripping blood down her cheek. Rogue will see as she looks frantically around the room, trying not to cry. She hasn't started yet, and she doesn't want to start now because once she does, she's sure she won't be able to stop. She sucks in a breath, trying to steady herself, but she can't stop shaking.]

It's Kurt. Something's wrong with him. I followed him into the bar and - [Well there it goes. Her voice starts to waver. She swallows hard.] and he attacked me.

[She bolts upright at that.] He attacked you?

[A quick and concerned scan of Kitty reveals - no torn clothes, no body bruising, just a gash on her forehead. She sets the book down.] Why would he do a thing like that?

I don't know, this experiment keeps making him crazy! He kept telling me he was somebody else! Some Graydon Darkholme guy. That's Mystique's last name, isn't it?

[Anger. Yelling. She's still just a second away from crying, but it's better to let herself get mad, especially in front of Rogue.]

Oh hell.

[At the mention of Mystique's name, Rogue shuts down completely. She can feel the psyche's stirring in response and-

-Not now.]

Calm down, Kitty. If it's the experiment that's got him, he'll get back to normal when it stops. In the meantime, we have to keep him from hurting anymore people.

[She chews on her lip.]

So what, we're just supposed to go out there and try to catch him? He'll just teleport. And I tried talking some sense into him, but he just totally flipped out at me.
