Acht - [Action/Voice]

[One minute, Kurt was in the middle of hanging out in his room in the evening, literally upside down, reading through a book. The next, he suddenly found himself wondering why he was wasting time with books. Landing on the ground, he tosses the book aside and regards himself in a nearby mirror. He's in the same ragged clothing he's used to. He pulls the hood over his face, obscuring his features, and teleports out of the room.

After the sun goes down, a hooded figure will be prowling through the streets. His walk is a little odd, as he walks only on his toes. His tail lashes about freely behind him, often latching around objects to forcefully pull them down. He doesn't care much for regular humans, so any he comes across are likely to get a scowl. Although his face cannot be seen under the hood, his eyes will light up whenever he spots someone. He's also out to do some thievery, particularly whatever can be looted from outside a window without needing to go in. Or maybe he'll just drop by the bar and see if he can't get himself something to drink. It's not like the bartenders will withhold alcohol from something that doesn't even look human, right?

After getting bored, he decides to leave a message on the journals. Notably, his voice lacks the usual soft spoken German accent, but is now a harder, northern American accent.]

I'm getting sick of this hole. What's there to do around here for some real fun?

((ooc: AU information here. Yes, he'll be answering to a different name. He remembers Luceti and the people he's met here, although naturally these memories are a bit twisted. Also, if you want to let him steal anything, let me know. He'll be sure to give it back once he's his old self. Also, no special alt journal! Use your ~imagination~ to see him as looking a lot grungier than usual. He isn't in uniform.))

[If she wasn't so distraught, she'd think that book idea was adorable.

Okay, she still finds it pretty cute.

Once Rogue finds her spot, Kitty surveys the area, taking every part of the terrain into account, just like Wolverine had taught them in combat class.]

We should make him think that you're alone. I'll have a better chance of grabbing him if can hide and ambush him.

[Rogue has automatically done the same. Those 'memory games' her mother and Destiny played with her helped in her training, and she's relieved to find a spot where she can sit with her back to the wall... and it even had a little overhang. Perfect for someone who might want to teleport on top of it.

They'd both been careful to walk on the shoveled road, so they had no tracks to give them away. Rogue nods at Kitty.] Good idea. And when I say the word, just come on in.

[She tries to keep the nervousness out of her voice.]

All right.

[Then ducks around behind the building, positioning herself just behind the wall Rogue leans against, crouching behind some evergreen bushes.

Okay, here goes. She crosses her fingers, but at the same time, dreads the thought of actually doing this to him.]

[Rogue? She opens her book and starts to read, doing her best to ignore the sourness in her stomach. This is going to hurt in a lot of ways.

And it makes her angry. Kurt, attacking Kitty? Somehow, in her mind, it bypasses the Malnosso entirely and focuses the blame where it really belongs: Mystique.

It takes a little bit of doing, but she does manage to get into the story.]

[She might get a good five minutes or ten before Graydon notices her in his prowling. He sneers, watching her for a moment. She's out here in the evening, using a lamppost for light to read? He's not buying it. His mother had driven such naivety out of him long ago. More likely, Rogue was just the bait. Shadowcat and Storm must be somewhere in hiding, waiting for himself to show.

Heh. Well if they want a fight...]

[Always aware of your surroundings, Graydon. You don't need powers to take down a dozen people at once. Just always know where your opponent is before they do. But that doesn't mean you can't have fun with it. So long as he stays aware of his surroundings.

So he teleports down into the streets, out of the range of the lamplight, leaning up against a wall. The only indication of his presence are a pair of glowing eyes.]

Hello sister, a bit late for pleasure reading, don't you think? [He doesn't even sound like his old self.]

[Classic. She glances up and over to those glowing eyes. You want trained by Mystique? Try being her.]

Kurt. [Yeah, she knows Kitty called him 'Graydon.' Yeah, she knows that he'd probably respond be more willing to talk if she called him by whatever lie he thinks he is. But 'Graydon' wasn't why she was out here. 'Kurt' was. And she wants to see just how foreign a person she's dealing with - even if he sounded more regular American than she did.] Ya didn't even wait for me to get to the good part.

[Remember to stay back until I say so, Kitty.]

[He moves a step forward, swaggering just a little as he does. There's frustration in his voice.]

Your friend talked to you. You know my name. So use it.

[And it's because he knows the X-Men too well that he suddenly changes his position where she can't phase through the wall behind him., appearing on top of the lamp post instead. Not to expose him, oh no. His tail suddenly pierces it, shattering the light and blanketing their surrounding with darkness, illuminated now only by the Moon, stars, and distant lights. He prefers to operate in the darkness.]

[Well, that's not at all creepy. She blinks a few times, waiting to adjust to the near-darkness. The spaced out streetlamps provide some relief, but Rogue knows he's just upped the danger level. That's clear and present threat - he can see in the dark far better than she can.]

I am usin' it. But all right, we'll play it your way just this once, Graydon. Aren't you curious?

[Her hand goes to her glove, but she doesn't strip it off yet. She's willing to keep this from turning into an immediate throw-down. And she needs a few more seconds for her eyes to completely adjust. He'll be in the shadows, even now. So she's straining her ears.]

[There's the familiar BAMF, he teleports again, but it's not clear where. It's on the opposite side and further off the ground. He's sticking to a wall.]

Curious about what?

[He's still trying to spot her teammates if he can.]

[And Rogue? She's sticking to her bench. Hard to spot someone who can hide wherever she wants, ain't it.]

Kurt. I bet not a single person called you by 'your name' today, huh, Graydon.

[Yes, he had noticed that. Not just Kitty, but Noel too. He hadn't cared that Kitty did it, that just annoyed him. But Noel? Ugh...]

And you have a reason for that?

Would I be out here waitin' to talk to ya if I didn't? I gather we ain't exactly close where you come from.

[He snorts at that.] No. You turned against us, joined the X-Men.

[Heh. Good.

But now's not the time for a philosophical discussion.]

But you still call me your sister.

[He snickers at that.]

But you're not my sister. You're not anyone. You didn't belong with the Brotherhood... you still don't belong with the X-Men.

[The word 'sister' is more an insult than any kind of familial attachment.]

[And she laughs. It's a cold sound, and not one Kitty might expect from her.]

Oh, I know where I belong.

[He's right. You don't--

Shove it.]

And at least you know my name. Why don't you let me tell you about Kurt, Graydon. Darkholme, is it? Are you Mystique's little good boy?

[That's drawled and said as if speaking tauntingly to a child. She's not willing to give up having the bench at her back just yet, but she does roll back one of her gloves.]

Does she use you like a glove? Do ya kiss up ta her, like Pietro does with Magneto?

Pietro? He's a coward. [He may be fast and the son of Magneto, but just like the rest of the Brotherhood, Pietro is intimidated by both Darkholmes. Her taunting angers him, so he does it right back to her.]

My mother knows what's best. She's never used me. She's never had to. Not like you, Marie. [Just a tool... a tool that was used to bring back Apocalypse, no less. But he's not about to mention that or the fact his mother is still frozen in stone.]

[Marie. It's not right, but it's close, and the fact that it is so close, that he would dare-- it gets her up on her feet and she's peeling off the other glove too. Stupid move, to stand up, but this is where it was going the whole time anyway.]

She knows what's best? And I'm sure that bein' turned into stone and unleashin' the Apocalypse was all part of a 'Master Plan!' She's usin' you, and you don't even know it. Ya ever try 'thinking for yourself?' Lemme tell ya, it's a real treat.

[So predictable, Rogue. You want to knock him out with your bugzapper powers. He grins at seeing that he's succeeding in getting under her skin. This is one reason why, even though she'd pulling her gloves off, he's putting his on. All that's exposed of his is his face and tail. He doesn't need his tail to fight her, not when he knows her so well, so he curls it around his waist.]

I don't need to be lectured by you about thinking for myself. [He suddenly BAMFs, reappearing behind her, now crouched on the back of the bench. He raises one hand and taps the side of his head.] I only have one person doing all my thinking for me.

[Rogue growls, a remarkably Logan-like sound and - seeing that he's wrapping around his tail and putting on his gloves, she takes her jacket off too. It's cold, but she's just wearing a tanktop underneath. Try it, Blue Boy. Go on and focus on the immediate threat.

She crouches down.] Yeah. I know. And you'll do whatever she says. [She scoffs.] You're nothing compared ta him. Ya think she loves you? Trainin' ya to murder and taunt, teachin' ya ta hate? Let me tell you who she really loves, Graydon. [Rogue isn't even seeing her brother at all anymore. It's all about the enemy. Heh. It's all in the family.] She loves Kurt.

There is no Kurt!

[And that there tears it. The bench falls back underneath his weight as he suddenly leaps towards her in what anyone could tell was an amateur move at best.

But that's only because he vanishes before he connects, just leaving a puff of smoke to appear in her face, while at the same time, he appears on the ground, crouched, and sweeping a kick aimed at her legs.

But even then, he won't stay in that position, because whether she falls or not, he appears a few feet above her, with a take down punch with the added force of gravity behind it.]

[From her crouch, she prepares to grab hold of him as he leaps towards her - she hadn't thought he'd make it so easy - and that's why when he suddenly reappears to kick at her feet she's expecting it, and manages to clear the kick - just barely.

But he's fast, so fast, and he's coming down on top of her while she's still in the air from her jump. She's no teleporter. But she throws herself further backwards in an attempt to aid gravity, hoping to go from landing on her feet to an awkward back-handspring. It won't work.]

[He has to give her credit for doing as well as she's doing. Not that he's thinking that or would ever do so. For most people, that one-two-three would be enough to knock them out. But his fist may not have hit her head, but her stomach is not to be so lucky, which is why he carries through with the attack rather than teleporting to a more advantageous position.]

[It connects, and she cries out in pain as the air leaves her body in a woosh. She lands with her hands under her and the unfamiliar sensation against her skin stings just as much as the wrong landing, and she immediately moves to roll into a crouch.]
