[Kurt arrived none too gently in the middle of the night, lying in front of the fountain. His head was dizzy, but when he finally came to, he realized people were walking by him without so much as looking at him, despite his current state. He realized it was night time, but he was still stunned that they didn't seem to notice him. It was only when he waved his own hand in front of his face and realized he could barely see it that he became suspicious. After moving into the light, it was almost as if he was not stepping from the shadows, but front a literal blanket of darkness. It was almost as if the darkness made him completely invisible.

After making his way to the roof, he realized that everything around him was so much clearer. It wasn't quite like daylight, but he could see even into the dark alleyways with almost perfect clarity. Whatever the Malnosso did to him, it was weird. He makes his way home that night, not realizing an even bigger surprise is waiting for him.]

[The next day when Kurt goes out, he does so with a pair of sunglasses on, in order to cover his now glowing eyes. He avoids the Brigade meeting on purpose (and will be doing so for awhile), instead settling for the mundane task of a quick trip to the grocery store. He's trying to avoid being spotted, so most of his travel will be done by roof top. For the sake of his friends though, he does leave a voice post. He's still wearing his sunglasses for that.]

Hey everyone, it's Kurt. Looks like I'm back. I'm just ahhh... a little under the weather, yeah? I'll be back to normal in no time.

[At least, he hopes he will.]

Roger that. I'm sure she'll understand. [...Well, maybe. But Haruhi's been curiously forgiving these days, so maybe it'll be okay. He can't help but be kind of worried for Kurt, though, even with him saying he'll be fine.] Just, uh... if you do end up needing anything, you know...

Thanks, man. It'll just be a small break, yeah? [Long enough to find out whether this will be permanent or not.]

Well, it should be as long as you need it to be. We'll still be here when you're ready to come back, y'know. [Well, probably. No promises or anything. But they can hope.]

Yeah... actually, I probably won't be going back to school either. I guess we'll have to hang out somewhere else.

I could just come and visit you, y'know.

Well, if you want. [He wont' stop Mikage. In fact, it's probably something he'd be willing to talk to him about in person.]

It should be if you want, y'know. I can stop by after today's meeting, though.

Okay, sure. In a few hours then. [He'll probably be in a better mood by then.]

[And a few hours later, Mikage will stop by! He comes bearing some indulgent snacks and soda for Kurt, just in case he feels well enough for that kind of thing, now or later. He knocks loudly, expecting to see Rogue or another housemate when it opens, since Kurt is under the weather.]

[It's actually Kurt who answers and though he still has the shades, he looks happier than he did on the journal. A hot babe kissing you tends to have that effect on a guy.]

Hey man, come in.

Hey, you're up! Are you sure you're really sick? [He says it teasingly, but he's also really pleased that Kurt is looking better.]

[Well, it actually doesn't bother him as much.] That was kind of an excuse, yeah? I guess there's something I should show you.

[His back is to Mikage as he leads him inside. He pulls off the shades, then turns back to him.]

Yeah, sure th- [And that's when Mikage looks up, yelps with as little dignity as humanly possible, and jumps back a step.] Whoa...!!

[... yeah, he was expecting that. Everyone's been startled at seeing it. So he tries not to let it bother him. Even though it kind of does.]

It's what the Malnosso did.

Wh- they changed your eyes!? That's crazy! [With the shock half-wearing off, Mikage steps closer, peering at Kurt's eyes, his own wide and baffled.] Can you still see okay?

[Crazier still is that he thinks it wasn't a Shift. They may have just triggered his mutation to advance further.]

Actually I can see better. At night, anyway.

Whoa... [Mikage leans back again, though this time to a more normal distance. He scratches at his hair, brow lifting.] So, you're worried about freaking people out too much?

Like I just did to you? [Because it's not an if thing. It's been happening with people who already know him.]

Well... you can't say it isn't kind of startling.

[He's not going to deny it- it was pretty freaky. But then, so was the overall blue...ness, initially. He got over that.

Kurt is Kurt, whatever he looks like.]

I mean, there's New Feathers showing up, yeah? The last thing they need is to run into this. [He gestures to his face.] A little less freaky makes a difference.

[And that makes the smile finally fade. He can't ignore the fact that this is definitely not doing Kurt's self-image issues any favours.]

It's not like you're a monster, Kurt.

No. I just look like one, that's all.

[And for some people, that's all that matters. Yet, in spite of that... he's found some people here in Luceti that don't think that. A lot actually. And it helps.]

It's not- [Mikage stops, looking down and scuffing a hand through his hair. He can't say it's not bad, because it's obviously not something to be brushed aside. He can't say Kurt doesn't look like a monster because he does look strange, and not exactly human.

But... well. About monsters...]

You know, I've seen some horrible monsters with human faces, and human bodies. They laugh, and smile, and act like they're your friend, but it's only skin deep. You turn your back and suddenly it's all over for you. And... that's what a real monster is.

[That night, that cell... and two individuals that had more monster in them than anyone he could ever imagine. This isn't the same at all.]

I really can't think of one of my best friends as something like that- not now, not ever.

[Hearing all that from Mikage does make him smile and he pats the side of Mikage's shoulder.]

I appreciate that, man. But I've also got some pretty awesome news too.

[That has Mikage perking up. A smile? Already things are looking up!]
