[Locked to Housemates]
[Kurt arrived none too gently in the middle of the night, lying in front of the fountain. His head was dizzy, but when he finally came to, he realized people were walking by him without so much as looking at him, despite his current state. He realized it was night time, but he was still stunned that they didn't seem to notice him. It was only when he waved his own hand in front of his face and realized he could barely see it that he became suspicious. After moving into the light, it was almost as if he was not stepping from the shadows, but front a literal blanket of darkness. It was almost as if the darkness made him completely invisible.
After making his way to the roof, he realized that everything around him was so much clearer. It wasn't quite like daylight, but he could see even into the dark alleyways with almost perfect clarity. Whatever the Malnosso did to him, it was weird. He makes his way home that night, not realizing an even bigger surprise is waiting for him.]
[Open To All]
[The next day when Kurt goes out, he does so with a pair of sunglasses on, in order to cover his now glowing eyes. He avoids the Brigade meeting on purpose (and will be doing so for awhile), instead settling for the mundane task of a quick trip to the grocery store. He's trying to avoid being spotted, so most of his travel will be done by roof top. For the sake of his friends though, he does leave a voice post. He's still wearing his sunglasses for that.]
Hey everyone, it's Kurt. Looks like I'm back. I'm just ahhh... a little under the weather, yeah? I'll be back to normal in no time.
[At least, he hopes he will.]

Hey everyone, it's Kurt. Looks like I'm back. I'm just ahhh... a little under the weather, yeah? I'll be back to normal in no time.
[At least, he hopes he will.]
[action]
You're not a freak, Kurt.
[action]1/2
[His response is a little more bitter than usual. It was something he'd been able to deal with before, but now it was all coming to the surface and this hurt. After messing with the watch he's pretty sure he's got his old image set up right. He slaps it on and turns it on. For a moment his eyes return to normal...]
[action]
What!? Did it stop working?
[action]
Wait, maybe I could try to fix it. [While Kurt would obviously know how to program the watch to hold his own image, technology is a specialty of Melanie's. While she doesn't like the idea of Kurt feeling like he needs to hide himself, it's clear how important this is to him. Maybe she can figure out how to fix it. Hopefully.]
[action]
Whoa... that's weird, now it's working.
[action]
This doesn't make any sense. There's no reason for it to work for me and not you.
[action]
... or maybe it has to do with the other thing that happened to me. Holograms are just light, yeah? But now, whenever I'm in the shadows, it's like I just... disappear.
[action]
Yeah, I guess that would make sense. [That doesn't make it any better. She would fiddle with the watch, but... well, at this point it's pretty clear it won't do any good. She sighs and hands the watch back to Kurt.]
Sorry. [That he's stuck looking and feeling this way and that she can't actually help.]
[action]
At least it's not that hard to hide. I mean... Scott manages to make it look cool, at least.
[action]
... But you shouldn't have to hide it, Kurt. I know it can't be easy to have this happen, but constantly hiding isn't fair to yourself. I mean, what are you going to do if this is permanent? Just stick to wearing sunglasses for the rest of your life so nobody can see your eyes? [It doesn't sound very practical to her, really.]
Yes, your eyes are yellow now, but that doesn't make you some kind of monster - and neither does being blue, fuzzy, having a tail, or teleporting. [Sure it's easy to see why someone would look at him and think "monster", but that doesn't make it true, at least as far as she's concerned.]
[action]
He really doesn't know what to say. He pulls the sunglasses off, but he ends up looking away, feeling all kinds of conflicted. Even if he does embrace this new part of himself, what will it even mean? He'll still be less human to everyone around him.]
[action]
Look, Kurt. I don't know what it was like back where you lived. I don't know if everyone though you were a monster or if only some people did, but the ones that did obviously spent their lives without having to deal with a real one - and trust me, I live in Gotham. We've got our fair share of monsters over there, but the thing is that I'm not in Gotham anymore, and you're not in Bayville. We're both in Luceti, and I know I'm not the only friend you've got here. I seriously doubt any of them think you're a monster, and I don't think they'd want you to hide yourself, either.
Maybe some people here have seen you and got scared, but that's their loss for being afraid and not bothering to get to know you.
I can't speak for everyone, but I know it's going to take a lot more than a change in eye colour to scare me away. [She offers him a smile, wanting to lighten the mood at least a little bit.] So, it looks like you're stuck with me.
[action]
I know you're right, Melanie. And I don't want to hide, even if it means scaring people. But be honest with me. Sure, having a fuzzy friend is pretty cool, but look at all of... this. [He gestures his hands inwardly at himself.] Some people think I like cool and that's not so bad. But how many people will ever thing of me as just another regular guy? What girl will ever look at me and not be grossed out at the thought of even kissing me?
[There was Amanda. One girl. She was special and unique
and sometimes creepy. What were the chances he'd ever find that again.][action]
So, Melanie moves forward and presses a soft kiss to Kurt's lips.]
[action]
For a brief moment it feels right and like nothing else matters. But when that moment is gone, he's left feeling stunned.]
I... Melanie? [Where did that come from?]
[action]
[action]
It didn't bother you? [For all he knows, she did it just to prove a point. Maybe it didn't mean anything.]
[action]
Like I said, it's going to take more than that to scare me away. [She likes you, Kurt. Blue fuzz and all.]
[action]
Then I hope I never scare you away.
[action]
You won't. That I can pretty much guarantee.
[action]
When you kissed me, was it because of what I said... or because you wanted to?
[action]
[action]
So... this will be okay, then. [He takes a chance and moves in for a kiss, waiting for her to go that last ten percent to meet him.]
[action]
[action]
He does his best to keep up and when they finally part lips, he's stunned again. But this time it's matched with a grin. A dumb grin.]
Wow. That was... cool.
