[Kurt arrived none too gently in the middle of the night, lying in front of the fountain. His head was dizzy, but when he finally came to, he realized people were walking by him without so much as looking at him, despite his current state. He realized it was night time, but he was still stunned that they didn't seem to notice him. It was only when he waved his own hand in front of his face and realized he could barely see it that he became suspicious. After moving into the light, it was almost as if he was not stepping from the shadows, but front a literal blanket of darkness. It was almost as if the darkness made him completely invisible.

After making his way to the roof, he realized that everything around him was so much clearer. It wasn't quite like daylight, but he could see even into the dark alleyways with almost perfect clarity. Whatever the Malnosso did to him, it was weird. He makes his way home that night, not realizing an even bigger surprise is waiting for him.]

[The next day when Kurt goes out, he does so with a pair of sunglasses on, in order to cover his now glowing eyes. He avoids the Brigade meeting on purpose (and will be doing so for awhile), instead settling for the mundane task of a quick trip to the grocery store. He's trying to avoid being spotted, so most of his travel will be done by roof top. For the sake of his friends though, he does leave a voice post. He's still wearing his sunglasses for that.]

Hey everyone, it's Kurt. Looks like I'm back. I'm just ahhh... a little under the weather, yeah? I'll be back to normal in no time.

[At least, he hopes he will.]

[The professor can walk? That is almost enough to shake him out of this, but he only needs to think back to her expression just moments ago.]

Rogue, what's wrong with me.

[She looks back up at him sharply.]

You tell me. You're the one that just got back - anythin' feel off?

Tired, a little dizzy still. [But not as bad as his first kidnapping.] Things seem clearer, maybe? But... [He knows how he feels. This is about how he looks.]

[Right. The first kidnapping when he thought he was in LOVE with her? We don't talk about that. We don't talk about that ever.]

I couldn't see ya in the shadows at all. Nothin', not even an outline. And your eyes... I wasn't sure you were you. [She meets his gaze, wishing that her touch could be a comfort, but hugging him like that had been selfish and irresponsible and she doesn't dare lay a hand on his shoulder or his cheek. She knows how much his 'more human' features mean to him. Gawd.]

They're yellow, Kurt. Yellow all the way through.

[All she can do for him is say it straight out and not look away. And that is exactly what she does.]

[Right now he wants a mirror. He wants one, just to know what she's talking about. But he doesn't need one. He knows what she means. He saw it in those mirrors. So many images of him, so many of them with those dim, glowing eyes. They had seemed so soulless at the time. He lowered his eyes, suddenly not wanting them to be seen. He was even more of a freak than ever. Another step towards being a demon.

Just like Hellboy.]

They can't be... those were just tricks. Those mirrors weren't real.

I don't know what those mirrors were. [Even now, thinking about them makes Rogue uncomfortable.]

But it looks like... [she bites her lip] go'n an' step back into the shadows for a sec.

Shadows? [He doesn't quite understand what she means by that, but he does as she says, slowly at first. This time he watches his hand as it enters the shade and he's surprised that it almost seems to vanish.]

Whoa.

[That's. Kind of amazing, really. But she'll curb her enthusiasm for a sec, for any number of reasons.]

It looks like they messed with your mutation. Can you still 'port?

[He steps back out and nods.]

Yeah. But you know... don't drink and 'port. [Not that he's been drinking, but the analogy works.]

So... [her brow furrows] ...it's like they added onto it instead of switchin' it.

[Like they had that one time she wound up blue and fuzzy with a tail.]

[Added to it... he wonders if it's even that. He stares down at the ground, his mind beginning to wonder.]

What if this is like Evan? Maybe... maybe this was going to happen anyway. [Maybe the Malnosso just triggered it early or something.]

[Frowny face.] An' maybe not. Who knows?

[She tilts her head to the side and considers him.] ...either way, the shadow bit's kinda cool. Nightcrawler. [With a tiny smile. Way to live up to your name, bro.]

Yeah, I guess it is. [Eat your heart out Batman. Robin would be so jealous if he finds out.] Hopefully it doesn't do this all the time.

If it's part of your mutation, you should be able ta learn to control it. [That, tentative and only the slightest trace bitter.] The Professor's here too, if ya want help with that. Or... just try an' practice to figure it out.

Right... the professor, I bet he can help. [And maybe tell Kurt if this mutation should even be happening to him. He's the professor after all.]

Maybe. [Small smile. She hopes so. But she's not so sure about this new professor.]

I'm glad you're back, Kurt.

[She really hated that she couldn't just go after him.]

[Well he hated being there, so they have something in common there. He tries to smile, but it's not quite getting there.]

Thanks. It's good to be back.

We should go let them know you're back. Everyone was worried about ya.

Well... they're asleep, yeah? It can wait.

[And he doesn't want them to see him like this. Especially Anne.]

Ya think they're gonna care?

[About being woken up? About your eyes?]

I will. [He knows it's not much of an excuse, but he hasn't even seen his own reflection yet. Selfish as it is, he doesn't want Ororo and Anne and Jubilee to see him like this. Not yet.]

All right. Need anything?

A mirror? [Yeah, he knows where to get one of those.]

...yeah? All right.

[She inclines her head towards the door, wondering if he'll want her to be there or if she should let him be.]

[She's welcome to follow or not, but he's heading inside to go look. Bracing himself for it probably won't help.]
