Neunzehn - [Action/Voice]

[Locked to Housemates]

[Kurt arrived none too gently in the middle of the night, lying in front of the fountain. His head was dizzy, but when he finally came to, he realized people were walking by him without so much as looking at him, despite his current state. He realized it was night time, but he was still stunned that they didn't seem to notice him. It was only when he waved his own hand in front of his face and realized he could barely see it that he became suspicious. After moving into the light, it was almost as if he was not stepping from the shadows, but front a literal blanket of darkness. It was almost as if the darkness made him completely invisible.

After making his way to the roof, he realized that everything around him was so much clearer. It wasn't quite like daylight, but he could see even into the dark alleyways with almost perfect clarity. Whatever the Malnosso did to him, it was weird. He makes his way home that night, not realizing an even bigger surprise is waiting for him.]

[Open To All]

[The next day when Kurt goes out, he does so with a pair of sunglasses on, in order to cover his now glowing eyes. He avoids the Brigade meeting on purpose (and will be doing so for awhile), instead settling for the mundane task of a quick trip to the grocery store. He's trying to avoid being spotted, so most of his travel will be done by roof top. For the sake of his friends though, he does leave a voice post. He's still wearing his sunglasses for that.]

Hey everyone, it's Kurt. Looks like I'm back. I'm just ahhh... a little under the weather, yeah? I'll be back to normal in no time.

[At least, he hopes he will.]

[ anne has never been a particularly heavy sleeper -- not when her imagination likes to run away with her at every new sound in the night. therefore, when a rustle wakes her in the middle of the night? well...her mind starts a-churning. a burglar? did luceti have those?

cautiously, she creeps out from her bed and reaches for a very heavy, hard-covered tome of poetry. as good a weapon as any other, given the circumstances.

she tip-toes out of her room and into the hall -- a would-be hero in a flowery nightgown. ]

I'll have you know that I am quite aware that you're there -- whoever you are. [ she whispers a very damning tirade of scolding into the darkness...lights, there! she can see them!

...a ghost? ]
And I'll also have you know that I am not afraid of poltergeists or other restless spirits. Not afraid at all.

[ h-his voice! her eyes widen and her upraised arm -- trembling above her head with that heavy volume of verse wielded.

her arm drops. ]

Kurt!

[ a giddy, hopeful expression. and she's rushing forward. sure enough, once she's closer, she can make the shape of him out with much more ease. ]

[ action ] it's doubly sad when i change the tag and decide to not have her hug.

Ah!

[ the fluorescent light floods the hallway and anne clutches the book to her chest -- blinking wildly. ]

Y-your eyes! They're...they're yellow! But why are your eyes yellow?

[ gone are the days when anne would have callously made up some horror story to accompany those eyes -- some great possession, perhaps. or a sign from the beyond. no, time and companionship have done well to temper her intrusive bursts of imagination.

but she does hold out a hand. she's tentative not because of his eyes but because it's kurt. and she worries. ]

Was it them? Did they do this to you? I have heard of people coming back...changed.

[ anne most boldly held his chin between her thumb and index finger, angling his face down toward her as she studied those luminous eyes. ]

They're a bit like...like harvest moons in miniature, aren't they?

The graceful, coloured moon that blesses the fall harvest. [ a wondrous smile; she draws her hand back and taps her own chin, thoughtfully. ] Though I suppose a harvest moon ought to be orange and not yellow. Do you think it matters, Kurt?

[ wrong? her own eyes narrow. odd, certainly. unprecedented. strange and perhaps a little eerie but here was also a boy who has blue fur! who 'teleported'! surely some temporary -- as it must be -- change in eye colour is no crisis.

so, a slight frown creases her face. she hasn't even yet caught up to the part where she's only in her nightgown -- an EXTREMELY modest and puritanical nightgown but still only a nightgown all the same. ]

R-right. They...did this to you. And in time it will be undone.

[ but is slowly brings into perspective the fact that more might be amiss than just kurt's eyes.

so, worriedly: ]
They haven't...have they done anything else? H-how are you?

[ well, she reasons, it is the middle of the night. of course he would be tired. therefore, she should probably let him...

oh! ]
Do you like apple pie?

[ logic leapfrog! ]

I made so many of them. Last week and...and this week. Even yesterday, I made a few. I thought -- I thought I ought best to perfect the recipe before you got back, just in case you did like apple pie. Only now I'm realizing that I've made a grievous error. Perhaps you prefer rhubarb? And perhaps I should have been making rhubarb pies all along.

And I did once learn a wickedly good version of a strawberry rhubarb crumble...[ her tl;dr was threatening to tl some more without interruption. ]

You will have some, once you're hungry, won't you?
