[It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and after lying on the couch with the journal flipped on his face for about ten minutes, Kurt really thinks he could use with some conversation time. It's not that his housemates are bad for that, but he knows how pesky he can be. Especially when he doesn't bother to actually... use doors. Or giving people a proper amount of time to react to him being nearby. Curse of his powers, really. He can't help it! So, he starts out with something simple before decided to handle more... business-y things.]

So... anyone any good at Soccer?

So, weird question, but has anyone ever met people they knew... or kind of knew of from their own world, but that world was totally different. And not even just different possibilities, but stuff that is just way too whack, like people not even being born the right year?

[He feels bad leaving the other X-Men out of that filter, but he doesn't want them to feel unwelcome due to their crazy worlds. Of course, Kurt isn't too great at making filters, so that one isn't all that well made. Neither is the next one, incidentally.]

[Beyond that, Kurt can be found at the house, hanging out anywhere around the village (including the Battle Dome), and so on. He's a blue demon monkey thing who likes to teleport in and out of places, crouch on top of roofs, or hang out upside down.]

[Maybe! That's why Kurt abruptly appears in a bamf, crouched on the console above her.]

Number forty-one? Isn't that one kind of boring by now?

[Startled, she glances up and blinks some before giving him a smile in greeting.]

That is what adjusting the levels are for. Or would you rather I set up one of Logan's scenarios, instead? [because those are never boring!]

If it's just for you? Help yourself. Should I call a doctor first?

There's no need for that. Even I can see the foolishness in taking one of those on my own.

That never stops Logan, though.

Ah, yes, but Logan is a stubborn man, and I would advise against emulating that particular trait of his.

Ahh, no worries there, Miss O. I like my bones just the way they are. [Not all of us can get crushed by the Danger Room and walk away from it like nothing happened a minute later.]

Yes, so do I. Which is why you would do well to show a little more appreciation for number forty-one, I think. In the interest of keeping your bones relatively intact.

Right, I guess you've got me there. Do you mind if I watch?

Not at all. You're welcome to join me as well, if you like. [it's only polite to extend an invitation after all!]

[Normally he'd pass. He's not keen on Danger Room time anymore than he has to. He'd much rather engage in a more fun filled simulation. But... that sort of fun died with the draft. So he just gives a serious nod at the invitation.]

[Well, that's a pleasant surprise. She wasn't expecting him to accept so readily, but Storm supposes that additional training is never a bad thing.]

All right. I have here a simple combat simulation, reasonably set at level six. Easy enough with the two of us, yes?

[bamfing]

[He deftly hops off on to the ground.]

Yeah, that shouldn't be too bad. [Though level six. Hm. He could probably handle it higher. Oh well.] Ready?

[She nods, keying in the last of the commands before the scenario starts up.]

There will be a series of standard training droids programmed to attack, each wave more formidable than the last. However, I set the simulation with the goal of gauging just how much the power cap affects my abilities, so if it starts out a little too easy, Kurt... [She smiles apologetically.]

[bamfing]

[He had been sort of curious to know what Storm's limits were now. His own had been manageable. It was a little more tiring to teleport and his range had been limited. But he'd made those weaknesses into strengths. During the draft, he had been so much better at teleportation due to how much harder it was in here. It was like... weight training, in a sense.]

Ahhh, no worries, I think I'll live.

Good. Then let's get started.

[and soon, their surroundings start shifting into the familiar endless blue matrix walls of a standard Danger Room session. Not seconds later comes the first wave of training bots, which Storm makes quick work of with a well-placed bolt of lightning.]

[bamfing]

[Kurt will deal with his own bots, so as not to get electrocuted. When Kurt came to Luceti, he used his powers purely defensively. Avoiding enemies, maybe a few attacks here and there, but largely just running interference.

That Kurt is gone. This one goes straight into the fight, using his rapid 'porting to confuse and disorient the enemies, delivering well placed punches, kicks, and throws to take them down. Though he has his swords with him, he's not using them to deal with the training bots. But he might when they get to a higher difficulty level.]

[If he keeps up that sort of approach to the fight, they should breeze right through the lower levels with no trouble at all.]

[Kurt's new method of attack isn't lost on Ororo, though. Especially since she's taking note of the limits of her abilities and isn't as extreme on the offense as she could be; his attacks really stand out. She's glad to see he's doing more than fine for himself, but this change is still rather abrupt for her...]

[When they get to a higher difficulty level, she decides to ease up on relying on her powers and settles into fighting hand-to-hand right alongside Kurt.]

Doing all right here, Kurt?

[bamfing]

[He slows down when she joins him in hand to hand. He has to be more mindful of her presence, lest he make a mistake.]

Ahh, I'm fine, no worries. These bots are too easy. [They don't fly. And they stay down when you beat them.]

[She settles into a good rhythm by him, taking down whatever bots he leaves standing, carefully watching his back.]

I can see that you've improved quite a bit since I last saw you in action. I'm glad you haven't slacked off on your training. [Which is a safe assumption to make, she figures.]

[bamfing]

Well... not much else to do, yeah?

[Sure, most of this is just from getting to use the Battle Dome for 'play' and learning to fight a little different because of it. But a lot of the restraint he had practiced before was abandoned in that awful jungle. It isn't long before they've cleared all the robots for this difficulty.]

I suppose not, though I would think you would relish this kind of downtime. It must be something akin to a vacation, not having to attend our regular Danger Room sessions.

[The next level bots prove to be a little more difficult, and soon Storm falls back on letting loose gusts of wind to drive some back.]

Who says I haven't had regular ones?

[Likewise it's harder for Kurt as well, which is why he draws one of his blades to up his combat ability. With the addition of the blade, he's actually doing better than on the previous level.]

[Oh, well now. Those are definitely new, and earn a brief, surprised raise of an eyebrow from her. If she had the time to spare, she would stop and appraise his new technique.]

[But Ororo is nothing but focused and controlled, so she'll save the question for when she isn't in the middle of a fight. She does make a note of aiming her lightning more carefully, however. Metal blades could probably make excellent conductors.]

[bamfing]

[He's grateful for that. Getting shocked mid-session would probably suck.

After cutting some more of them down, he glances up to check her progress. She seems to be as powerful as ever. Then again, she doesn't have much of a need to to be going all out yet. Maybe he should be leaving some for her. Or give her some more space. He starts going on the defensive, to leave more room for her to go all out.]
