[On the last night of the draft, Kurt took a major beating. For those who had been there, Kurt had become a flurry of teleportations, moving in and out of the enemies and becoming almost impossible to follow. He doesn't know how many he might have wounded or killed, but it had all been halted when he got stabbed with a near fatal wound. He doesn't even recall what happened after that. In fact, between that and the sickness, he only wakes up today in a bed in the medical center. When he tries to get up, he realizes that's not so much a good idea.

At the very least, he finds his journal next to him. So... he pulls that out to ask the inevitable question on his mind.]

I'm back in one piece. Sorry if I worried anyone, but I'm ahh... not even sure what happened.

[the green one gets poured into the cup for him. He's already sitting up, at least.]

[A cup, huh? He could have handled it in a bottle, but he figures it's a culture thing or something.]

Thanks, Mia. [He takes a sip.] So... what's your home like? [It's an abrupt question, sure, but they're going to be here for awhile and he really doesn't know that much about her yet.]

My home? ...It's a town in the north called Imil. It's very cold there.

[Imil... okay, he'll try to remember that.]

Really? How cold?

So cold that it is covered in snow for most of the year.

[... so in real world terms, that must make Mia... Canadian!]

Do you have any kind of snow sports then like... hockey?

[she lives in the real world!]

Not...that I know of. What is it?

You place it on ice, yeah? So you skate around and hit this puck with a stick... and try to get it in a goal.

[A pause and he quickly adds:]

It's funner than it sounds!

It sounds...difficult.

[Sorry Kurt. She's not Canadian, even if she is nice enough to be one.]

Yeah, I guess. I've never played it. [And clearly she hasn't either. Okay, so... moving on.]

I guess being used to all that snow makes it rough being here, yeah?

Not really. I have been to many places in Weyard, and some of them are much like this one.

Ahh, I get it, world traveler. [Let's see... fantasy world, travels the world, lots of magic.] I bet you were trying to stop some big evil guy, yeah?

...Well, in a way, yes. [HOW DOES HE KNOW?] I mean...I would like to hope that his intentions were not, at the start, evil.

I don't think anyone wakes up and decides to hurt people. Some people just... it just happens to them. They cross a line and can't go back. [The way he says it, this is clearly something that is more than just philosophical to him.]

[Among all of her friends, Mia has the distinction of having known this villain since they were both children. Growing up together. Learning Psynergy together.

She doesn't tell anyone but sometimes it's entirely unbelievable that he's been able to manipulate everyone for so long.

And what's worse, sometimes it's so much like him that it terrifies her. None of this will show on her face now, understand, she's too good for that. But it's on her mind]

I believe he really did begin with...with Weyard's best intentions at heart.

[He does, however, get a sense she knows this person somewhat well.]

What did he do?

He...he wanted to restore the world, I think. ...But now, it seems more like he...wants the power of Alchemy for himself, to use as he wishes.

Alchemy? Restore the world?

[Kurt is... not quite following.]

[Another sad, quiet smile]

Tell me about where you come from.

Well, for the past few years I was living in Bayville, yeah? At the Xavier Institute. It was a place for people like me, mutants, to learn to control our powers. It was run by the Professor. He's a good guy. He can read minds, but even though he's powerful enough to control your thoughts and actions, he uses his powers to help people. Everyone there does. It's what the X-Men are about.

[The 'X' being the reason for those weird uniforms he and Rogue were wearing during he draft.]

...I don't think I know what 'mutants' means, the way you are using it.

[Not even a flinch on the mind reading. Ivan's not able to control anyone's actions (though...he would play a lot of pranks if he could) but he doesn't use his ability for too much mischief either]
