Sechs - [Action/Voice]

[Kurt is hanging out at the Battle Dome today. One nice thing about not having Wolverine around is that the programs he gets to pick aren't too hard and he gets to pick his own pace. But practice is still important, right? Besides, he gets to practice using the handy saber he picked up at the weapon shop. Sure, maybe it isn't practical to his typical training in subduing enemies with guns or mutant powers, but it's way more fun. But then, he'll probably never legitimately be fighting pirates on the high seas in epic sword duels. It's his guilty pleasure, okay? He likes to see imagine himself as a handsome, swashbuckling hero.

In between sessions, he decides to take a break, eat something from the vending machine and chat with people.]

People use the battle dome here a lot, right? Anyone have any favorite scenarios they like to fight in?

[Not anymore.] Maybe you just haven't found the right people. It took me forever, dude.

I've met the right people. They're great, really great. It's, well, everyone else. I guess it's different for you, since you're some kind of superhero. But people hate mutants, even the ones who look like everyone else.

[Then he doesn't get it. You have friends, you have powers. What's with that attitude?]

Really? Because I've been walking around outside here since day one, and the most I've gotten is a few weird looks. We come from different worlds or something, right? I'm sorry if the people back in yours are such jerks, but I don't think that's a problem here. Why not enjoy it while you can?

[He knows the green kid's right. He's been told that already. He's told himself that too.]

I've always been like this. When the professor gave me this watch... it was the first time I could go anywhere and people not notice me. Maybe people won't try to attack me or insult me here, but I'd still be the blue guy that stands out, you know?

And why is that such a bad thing? Dude - you're different. Wearing that little holo-thingy is fine and all if it keeps you safe, but it doesn't make you like everyone else.

Is it really so important that you feel like you do that you'll miss out on this chance?

[He really doesn't have a handy excuse for that. Aside from the fact he doesn't want to be different. But in the end, the holo watch doesn't make him like everyone else. He can't even hold a person's hand without them figuring out his secret.

He sighs.] Maybe you're right. But if I stop wearing the watch, I'm going to have so much explaining to do. [And no girl will ever react to his flirting the same way again.]

Come on, dude, how hard can it be? Everyone loves the color blue! [He may be downgrading the entire situation. And hey, he totally had a girlfriend once...never mind how that relationship ended.]

There's also the whole facial hair problem. And, you know, the tail thing too. [But it's easier to think of this as being so much more simpler.]

So what? I'll bet the ladies like their guys a little rough around the edges. [Because this is suddenly all about picking up girls. Obviously.]

I really don't think this is what most girls have in mind, man. [Amanda? One in a million. He doesn't expect any other girl to feel the same.]

You never know until you try, right? Besides, you seem like a pretty cool dude. I say you go for it.

I guess there's no harm in trying. [Well, unless the girls decide to harm him. But he hopes that it won't come to that.]

Oh yeah, my name is Kurt.

Now that's the attitude I want to hear! Mine's Beast Boy. [...yikes, it feels kind of awkward saying that to a meta - mutant - whatever who just told him his real name. He doesn't know if this guy even has an alter ego, but...] T-that's not my real name, but...heh. I guess...you can call me Gar. [That works, right? Not like it's his whole name.]

You have a secret identity, huh? [Kind of pointless when you look like they do, but he sees no harm in sharing his own.] My code name is Nightcrawler. Nice to meet you, Gar. [He holds his hand out for a friendly handshake.]

Right back at you, Kurt. [He reaches forward and takes that hand, grinning widely.] I'll be rooting for you, dude.

[Likewise.] Thanks, man. You're new around here, yeah?

Yeah...I was just thrown out here a few days ago. It looks like I'm the only one from my team, too.

That's so lame, man. I was the first one of my team to show up, but my friend showed up soon enough... and Storm just a few days ago.

[He feels bad for the kid, though. It has to be lonely. Especially being like that.]

We don't have any spare rooms, but we've got a couch if you want to come crash at our place, man. I bet Kitty and Ororo won't mind.

You'd do that? [On one hand, strolling into this guy's place and sleeping on his couch with his friends there definitely seems...awkward. On the other, the apartment he's been crashing in until now is way too big and lonely for his tastes, and Kurt is certainly likeable enough.]

[Hmm.] Thanks, dude, but maybe you should ask them first. I don't want to step on toes or anything, you know?

[Kurt tugs on one of his own ears.] We elf guys got to stick together, yeah?

[But BB makes a good point.] But I'll ask and let you know.

[He chuckles at that.] Can't argue with you there, dude. And thanks for the offer; I'm still getting used to a lot of this stuff. Especially solo.

[He holds out his hand again.]

So how about we go ask now, yeah? We'll take the Nightcrawler Express.

[Er...didn't they just shake hands like, two minutes ago? Strange...but hey. Maybe people really liked handshakes in his world. Beast Boy reaches out for it again, confusion apparent on his face.]

Uh...sure, dude. Whatever you say.

[The moment their hands touch, the both of them vanish... and reappear inside an apartment living room. Kurt's apartment, as a matter of fact. There's even a TV in the corner.]

Home sweet home. What do you think?

[That...was disorienting.]

...I think the room needs to stop spinning.
