[When Kurt steps out of the tunnel today, he's relieved. It's kind of like being back home, if home was a place where you were at the mercy of scientists and bureaucrats and the subject of weird experiments. But it's got friends and family, so he's still relieved to be here. Not to mention having a sky over him again. It's kind of refreshing to actually be chilly! Although a little sore from two weeks of teleporting, he's content to make his way back home.

... where he'll find out Jubilee is gone. Not to mention that Melanie is still away. It's kind of a bummer on both count. But he keeps his chin high and remembers that he still has friends. Jubilee went back to the X-Men she belongs with, he's with the X-Men he belongs with, and he'll be ready the moment Melanie comes back.

After spending some time getting settled back into the X-House again, he goes out for the evening, looking for some fun to stimulate a Kurt who spent two weeks of fighting and boredom (and people staring at him like a freak). Good Spirits, Cloud Nine, and the Rec Center are all stops this evening for him. A successful mission completed deserves a little celebration, after all.

At some point, he pops open his journal to ask something he's been thinking about. From what he knows of Kotetsu and Pao-Lin's world, it almost seems to have 'mutants' like him. But unlike his world, they seem to have a better lot than mutants in his world do. After two weeks of being stared at like a freak, his own mutation is pretty heavy on his mind. Maybe other worlds are like this too?]

So a lot of us have powers, yeah? How many people were born with them... but only by accident? I don't mean like some kind of magical powers, but something totally random.

And... what do the people of your world think of that?

Lived with him, actually. I mean -- you knew that Bones was here, right? S-sorry. Doctor McCoy. [ really, besides jim, she had been the only one truly allowed to use that nickname. and the fact that she did was mostly jim's fault. ]

Not the...old one. I have it on good authority that my Jim's way better looking.

[bamfing]

[Lived with. She lived with Kirk.]

... your Kirk? Were you dating him? [She was dating a younger William Shatner!? Suddenly Jack Sparrow doesn't seem so bad.]

...Before he went home. Yeah. [ dude he was way hotter than shatner but she can never ever prove this. ] Six months or so.

[bamfing]

[Well Kirk's dad was Thor, so it goes without saying.]

... I met Scotty. I was able to transport the master transporter.

[herotypical]

Scotty lived back at the house, too. While he was here. And Spock. Uhura. We might've been a Starfleet hotel, at one point.

[bamfing]

[... that is so unfair.]

Man, did you ever even watch any Star Trek?

...What do you take me for? Someone who's pop-culture illiterate?

[ after all, she's watched enough to make casual q references in conversation. somehow. ]

[bamfing]

Well, it is kind of geeky. [And she doesn't seem the type.]

...Hey. My best friends in high school and beyond? Pretty much the geek squad. And I loved them for it. [ sometimes in spite of it. ]

[bamfing]

But they're not here. [She said loved.]

[herotypical]

Haven't been in a very long while, Kurt. Something tells me I'm not gonna see them for an even longer while still.

[bamfing]

I guess you never know who's going to stick around and who won't.

[herotypical]

You'd think it'd stop being a shock. But I...just -- [ she shakes her head. too sad to care about who she's talking to and what she's saying. ] I get it in my head, y'know? With me, it's different. With him, it's different.

[bamfing]

[Yeah, that totally went over his head. Him? Who?]

It's always different. And it's always unexpected.

...Funny, y'know, how things are always so unexpected that their level of unexpectedness becomes -- expected.

... like us having a conversation this long? [That's a level of unexpected unexpectedness. Wait, probably a bad example.]
