Elf - [Action/Voice]

[Having already determined the village is full of people in the wrong shapes, Kurt wasn't all that surprised to find himself in a new body. Sure, the five fully functional fingers was new. And walking without his tail as a counterbalance was just surreal. And how on earth did people walk on their heels. No, really, the fact that really shocked him was that his entire body was monochrome. Sure, maybe his favorite actor had always been in black and white movies, but this was just... a little odd.

Nevertheless, he decides to set out and make good use of his new form. Particularly, of course, by going out and charming women with his oh-so-obviously attractive new (old) features. So if you're a pretty girl (and hopefully not too young), you'll have his attention. Or if you're just someone he knows, he'll want to show off. Later on, while having a drink (non-alcoholic!) at Good Spirit, he'll make a voice message.]

So did anyone else actually turn into something cool during this experiment?

I liked the field trips best. [ which were literally trips to a field, in her case. ]

Ahh yeah, those are cool. My friend Scott got to on a field trip where they go to ride on snowmobiles. That was awesome. [But Kurt didn't get to go. Lame.]

[Oh right. Hmmm...] Have they invented automobiles in your time...?

I have heard about patents in Germany and America for propelled vehicles; however, I've seen no such thing in Avonlea or in Charlottetown.

Ahh, well, it's like that! But for snow. So like an automobile and a sled put together. But it can go faster than any horse. They're way awesome.

They must come in handy during the inclement weather -- but, yes...your friend was probably very fortunate to have so lavish a field-trip. We tended to walk down to the stream and collect wild flowers, leaves, and empty bird nests.

Oh. That sounds cool too.

[Well okay maybe it doesn't, but he sounds sincere about it. A lonely blue elf kid used to do the same thing in the woods as a kid, but with less flowers. Unless it was for his adoptive mom.]

I mean only that I would truly hate to seem vain. I know I have an awful habit of it -- when I was younger a guest of the Hammonds complimented me on the turn of my nose and I have simply been unable to let it go ever since. A girl with freckles like these must cling to whatever achievements she can afford, you know. Though Marilla tells me that it's awful wicked.

[He would let you finish this story of which the context he's not quite sure he understands, but he spots a certain barmaid coming in from the back. Realizing she's never seen him like this, he doesn't care for her to do so, and that he WAS monochrome a few minutes ago, Kurt nearly leaps over the table, grabs her arm and...]

[ and what just happened to the world? anne briefly feels her stomach churn like that afternoon matthew had taken her out on choppy seas in the gulf. she had then gripped the wooden, paint-chipped edge of the boat as the waves had tossed the both of them about. the association is not altogether unpleasant; after all, it is one of her fonder memories of the man who had become her father.

now she clings to kurt's arm instead -- blinking to adjust to this new lighting. ] Heavens. [ her shoulders rise and fall with her breath. adrenaline pumps through her system...what was that? how did he...? ]

That...Kurt, where's the table?

[The clinging to the arm is a nice touch. Unplanned, but very welcome.]

Ahaha, right. Sorry about that. There was someone in there who... well, let's just say she's not Miss Sunshine, yeah? I couldn't let her see me in there. [And he didn't want to ditch you!]

I 'ported us to the roof! [Never drink and 'port, kids. You never know where you'll end up.]

[ anne's free hand crunches coldly on snow beneath her. she doesn't mind the chill but is only surprised to feel it where moments ago there was none. she is still working on recovering a somewhat regular breathing pattern. to go from a village where horse-drawn carriages are the norm to being 'ported' is quite the leap. to put it lightly? a plane would have amazed her. you can imagine what something like this does to her her imagination. ]

I must say that you have a spectacular method of avoiding your rivals. [ there is still a slightly worn, ragged joy to her voice. like a country girl stepping off her first roller-coaster. ]

[bamfing]

It does come in pretty handy. [He leans over to check the streets below them.]

I guess our date is pretty much over... [Not that it was really a 'date'.] Where do you live? I'll take you home.

I've moved back to the Welcome Centre. [ she admits it with a cool confidence -- though the place isn't quite homely. ] Once Jacky was sent home...I couldn't stay there alone.

[bamfing]

... oh. [Wow, he had no idea.] You don't have anywhere else to live?

There are usually others at the Centre -- I like that.

... ahh. You don't like being alone.

[He can understand that. Before Kitty showed up, he hated living in an apartment alone. But unlike her, he couldn't exactly live at the welcome center. Leaving the holo watch on overnight was a risky prospect.]
