[Well, Kurt is at home with nothing to do. He's finished his homework, goofed off in the Battle Dome, and isn't quite up to crashing in on his friends and seeing what they're up to. Apparently that's annoying. So he has only one alternative - watch movies he's already seen several times or be entertained by Luceti's populace. Which means getting a discussion going. Something simple and mindless to talk about.]
Okay, so everyone. You're on a boat and it shipwrecks on a deserted island. You can only take one thing with you from home. What is it?
... ohh, right, and if you have any kind of superpowers that would get you off the island, those don't count. Or for making new stuff and- actually, yeah, no superpowers at all. Just stuff you bring!

Anyone different is feared. Anyone with power of any kind is feared, envied, or sometimes outright hated. Would you really let them decide who you are because of it?
[Smoker's called a monster by his entire hometown for his devil fruit and strength as a marine and because he does his job putting away pirates. While it upsets his second in command who always gets defensive on his behalf, he's repeatedly said, he doesn't care. And really... he doesn't. He just sort of considers them idiots.]
[voice]
No. But we do have to live with them anyway. We can't just get rid of the people we don't like.
[voice]
That was by no means what I would recommend. [After all... he still protects his citizens, monster or not.] Tch. Granted, our worlds are different so they're probably not the same on this, but in my world, kids with devil fruits have it roughest. Some are sold into slavery as freaks, others are outright ostracized, and the severity depends on the fruit, the person, and the town. You can't just escape them, because they're everywhere. You just don't have to let them get to you either. You can teleport, so it's not like they can touch you physically anyway.
[voice]
[But then, slavery was abolished a long time ago.]
[voice]
Hn. [Also to be fair, all the high-level marines have devil fruits, it's just that normal people in his world are vaguely sheep-like.]
Sorry. I'm not saying it's not rough. Just that it's what you make of it. [Shrugs. He probably shouldn't have been so intense... but then he's always like that.]
