[... Ooooh. Her shoulders drop a little, and her smile fades to more of an unhappy face. Well, that doesn't sound good. What if she signs, and no one can understand her?

But then she seems to brighten up as she thinks past it. She can just write! It's... kind of hard to remember to bring her journal or something other form of writing with her, but maybe it won't be so bad!

She holds out her hand and makes the action of writing against it with her other hand. That would work, right?]

[He almost quips about her hand getting all messy, but he thinks better of it and just nods.]

Ahh, yeah, that would work! At least when you're not at the beach, yeah?

[She nods - and as if to go along with what he says, she leans over to scratch out her name, then write again.

[He taps his chin thoughtfully.]

Maybe some flash cards too. Those would help.

[... Flash what?

Just the look on her face shows that she has no idea what those are, too. She's heard of cards, but... flash cards?

She brings both hands up and opens and closes them a few times. Like... flashing lights?]

[He shakes his head. CLOSE, but no cigar.]

You just write common stuff on some cards, big enough so it's easy to read. That way you can pull them out real easily and save time, yeah?

[... Oooh, she gets it. But then why are they called "flash" cards. Well... whatever, humans have weird names for things sometimes.

But she still lights up, smiles and nods. Yeah! That could work, too. It'd certainly shave off a few seconds of writing, especially something that she might have to write repeatedly.

Her eyes widen a bit when a thought hits her, and she scratches out her previous message to write again.

I'L-L N-E-E-D S-T-R-O-N-G P-A-P-E-R, R-I-G-H-T?]

Oh, yeah. That will be easy to find. [He hand waves that part. They're at the beach and shopping seems pretty low priority. And maybe she won't want to talk about not being able to talk like this forever.]

Are you here with someone else?

[She still smiles, because it's nice to hear that those kinds of things are easy to find. Humans really are so resourceful... They think of everyone's needs. How can they be bad?

At his question, she shakes her head, though she doesn't seem to mind the fact that she's alone. She was able to talk to many friends, after all.]
