[It's been two weeks since Kurt had been at school. Or much of anywhere, really. He'd only checked in on a few of the friends who already knew about his 'fuzzy condition' and otherwise avoided being spotted, mostly lurking in the dark. Which meant turning in the homework Terra picked up for him, explaining away the fact he was 'sick', and avoiding too many questions being asked. After that, he even attends the Brigade meeting like a good little minion, despite also being absent from it for the entire month so far. Afterward, he'll be hanging around town, including testing out the Battle Dome. It's a lot like the Danger Room he's familiar with.

Once that's all said and done, he'll go ahead and make himself known on the journals.]

So, I kind of disappeared there for awhile. Sorry about that. I was uh, not quite feeling like myself. How's everyone doing?

I thought the vending machines were a nice touch.

At first I though it was a little odd to dispense things in vending machines if we don't actually pay for items. But I guess it makes it easier for the Malnosso to refill them.

And there's no way they could have that much selection in one tiny vending machine. There's stuff in there I've never even heard of!

Really? Like what? [Seeing as most things in his world could have restorative properties if prepared correctly, he hadn't been too surprised by what he'd seen.]

Like uh... ethers. They aren't all that tasty. And lots of other stuff.

[There's a brief pause.]

Did you try all of those things?

... nope, I quit after that one. I just stuck to the stuff I knew after that.

...Oh good. Most healing items I'm familiar with are meant for their restorative properties, not their ... taste.

"Healing items"? You make it sound like they're from a vid- ohhh. [Video games. :|]

Well, what else would you call them? [What a boggling thought.] It's not like they all fit under the category of "medicine."

No no, you're right. We just don't have anything like that in my world. Just... regular, everyday medicine.

[A short laugh.] Well, everyday medicine can mean a lot of things. Things prescribed by a doctor aren't gonna be the same as what you get if you're working with the army.

So is it strange to you, being in a place where most everyone can use magic?

[That's all a fair point, but Earth medicine is very mundane to catch-all healing items.]

A little. But then, I come from a world where some people can shoot lasers from their eyes, read people's minds, walk through walls, and control the weather. So it's not that big a change.

...I guess it wouldn't be much of a change. [He snorts.]

So what are you doing now that you're feeling better?

Well uh, not much. You know... going to school, catching up on homework. Uh, Brigade meetings again. There's not a whole lot to do around here.

[There's a slight cough when Kurt mentions Brigade meetings.] Well, there will be once we get closer to the holidays again. Haruki's always got ideas to celebrate them. Super Sentai Santas and elves...

[Now whatever could that cough be for?]

Super... Sentai Santas?

I don't really get it, either. Apparently they're some sort of costumed superhero group? The "sentai" thing, at least. Then Haruki added the Santa theme.

... yeah, that doesn't sound like my idea of a good time.

At least they had masks while they were striking poses. And some of them seemed to have fun... [Although he's pretty sure all of them had complained about something along the way.]

We'll see. We still have this month to get through. You'll definitely end up in at least one costume.

... yeah, probably. I'll uh, have to get your help with that

[Because any costume is going to be a problem, even if his face is covered. His legs are weird like that.]

Right. Sometimes the costumes are just that difficult to put on.

Just let me know when Haruki gives you a costume. It doesn't take long to program into your device.

...You'll probably need some stuff for the winter weather too, huh?

Well he tried to get me into a frog costume earlier. I talked him out of it.

... some more winter stuff would be good. I have stuff in there from last year, but it's uh... kind of out of date.

You think you'll end up wearing it later? You can take it from the HQ and I'll enter the data into your image inducer.

Same goes for your winter clothes. You can find some stuff at the store or All Passions and I'll enter that data, too.

Good idea. So I should uh, just find a whole bunch of stuff for you to look at, huh? That's pretty easy.
