Ein - [Action/Voice]

[Although Kurt arrived early in the day, walking around the village was not an option. So he was left with little choice but to wait around until evening, listening in on the journals for clues as to what happened to him. Clearly he wasn't the only recent arrival and he learned quite a big from his fellow New Feathers having the situation explained to them. So, in the dead of night, Kurt finally enters the village, teleporting from one room to another. His first stop is the clothing store. After finding some discreet, normal outfit (opting to come back for his X-Men uniform later), he leaves and goes to the item store to find his holo watch. If anyone happens to run into him during the dead of night, they'll find that he's keeping to the shadows and has himself covered in a robe. He'll talk if he's found, at least at first. But he's not keen to reveal himself and will teleport away immediately.

The next morning, though, Kurt will be walking around town in the appearance of a normal human kid, exploring the various parts of the towns, mostly the shops and Welcome Center. Later, he even makes a voice post, sounding just a bit timid as he does so.]

Hello everyone, my name is Kurt. I ah, arrived yesterday. I was wondering if any of my friends were already here? [Seemed reasonable to ask... so many other people arrived to people who already knew them.]

Oh. [Pause. Processing.] And does everyone talk to everyone just like this?

Well... close enough, I suppose. [More private than this. The journal is more like a talking forum, but better not to confuse her.]

Your world must not be very large.

[He's a little stunned at how she managed to reach that conclusion. He decides that... it's really not worth getting into.]

Uh, you mentioned the grocery store?

Yeah - one of the most important places in town! If you're going to be here for a while, you should definitely see it.

[She really loves not having to dress game. She'll just keep that thought to herself for now, though.]

[He's all confused now. He's seen the grocery store, but you made it sound like they were going to meet there. But he's not going to go mentioning that.]

Oh. Of course, I'm sure I'll spend plenty of time there. [Like when he teleported inside last night for some food.]

Yeah, we're somehow out of soda again... [Her voice trails off a little sadly for a moment. But Toph's home. It's a good. thing.] So I have to head there before dinner. So if you want to meet up, that's a good spot!

Yeah, sure. I don't think I have much to do anyway. [Besides wander aimlessly...] I can be there anytime.

[She glances around. She can finish this marinade in maybe five minutes? And pick up some of that frozen bread dough that's so much like cheating so that she doesn't have to actually make bread...]

I'll meet you there in twenty minutes? [She tilts the book up so it can capture her face and waves at him so he'll know what she looks like.]

[Oho, so she is a pretty girl. She'll see him smiling back as she waves.]

Yeah, I'll be there! [Even though he's derping off elsewhere. Ah, the wonders of teleporting.]

[She takes note of what he looks like as well, but in a more general way. At least he looks like a guy. Sometimes she can't tell here.]

All right, I'll see you then!

[And in about twenty minutes, there she is, walking up to the grocery store.]

[Kurt had been in the library, but when he notices he's running late, he decides to take a shortcut and appears behind the grocery store. He comes walking around it quickly, not realizing he accidentally took a book with him without checking it out. He quickly spots Katara and waves. Hopefully the direction he came from won't seem odd.]

Hi! You're Katara, right?

[She nods, smiling as she looks him over - not hurt, not threatening - pay no mind to the waterskin slung over her back and the knife tucked into her belt, and the nifty bracelet on her upper arm.]

Kurt? Nice to meet you. Welcome to Luceti.

[The knife catches his attention. Most girls he knows don't carry around sharp metal objects except as a fashion statement.]

Thank you, though it doesn't seem to be the best place to be welcomed to. [He smiles a little uneasily. She's dressed way differently than what he's used to.] Sorry I'm late. I was at the library. [... which is in the other direction from which he came from.]

[As for most of the summer, Katara has been varying between her Watertribe Fire Nation clothes and some dyed blue variants of her original Fire Nation ensemble. Today, though, she's in the original red. Clashes a bit with that blue necklace around her neck, doesn't it?

She notices his gaze on her knife and keeps her hands well away from it, even though the knife isn't where the true threat lies. She was about to explain to him why she keeps it with her, but then he mentions the library and Katara gives him a bit of an odd look.]

The library is in that direction. [She points. And... notices the book too. Huh. The kid has special abilities, maybe? Wouldn't be the first time...]

[Maybe a little, but people don't dress according to their nation where he's from, so it's little more than an oddity for him. He himself is fairly nondescript, simply wearing a simple button up shirt. Or at least, that's what the illusion implies. He does look a bit sheepish when she corrects him.]

I ah... tried to take a shortcut. I'm still getting used to the place, is all. [He tries to quickly change the subject.] You wanted soda, right?

[...well, she doesn't completely by that, but figures it's something she could always circle back to later. After all, she didn't meet him to make him uncomfortable.]

Yeah - and a few other things for dinner. I'd invite you over too, but it's a bit of a special day. We've got time to get you set up, though! [She starts heading towards the grocery store.] And even though the Seventh Heaven is closed right now, there's still the cafe and the pizzeria too, if you don't feel like cooking at your place. Did you pick out a spot yet?

[He raises his hands in front of him.] Oh no! You don't have to invite me! I'm just glad for the company, that's all. This place is still very new, after all. [He wouldn't bother with groceries for now otherwise.] I was going to go to the Welcome Center later and see what would be best to move into.

[She nods.] That's a good idea. Rydia should be there - she's very nice. She was one of the first people who greeted me when I came here.

[As they enter the store, Kurt will politely hold the door open for her. Even growing up as a blue freak, his parents still instilled him with manners. Well, mostly. They never got him past the BAMF-ing in front of people thing.]

Ah, well hopefully she'll be there today.

She usually is, during New Feather season. [Katara, not having grown up where there are a lot of doors. Or a lot of just... other people, doesn't really get the whole 'hold the door open for the lady' thing. But she goes in with a smile of thanks.]

So what do you think of Luceti so far?

[A smile is all he was hoping for, really, as he follows her in.]

It's all so confusing. Things that are not real in my world are very real here. I keep thinking I might wake up, you know?

[She nods.] I know that feeling. The first time I walked into this grocery store, I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head! Who knew that food could come in boxes? And then when the microwave showed up... [She just shakes her head.]

[... he just gives her the most puzzled look ever.]

... that's not quite what I had in mind.
