bamfing | Ein - [Action/Voice]

[Although Kurt arrived early in the day, walking around the village was not an option. So he was left with little choice but to wait around until evening, listening in on the journals for clues as to what happened to him. Clearly he wasn't the only recent arrival and he learned quite a big from his fellow New Feathers having the situation explained to them. So, in the dead of night, Kurt finally enters the village, teleporting from one room to another. His first stop is the clothing store. After finding some discreet, normal outfit (opting to come back for his X-Men uniform later), he leaves and goes to the item store to find his holo watch. If anyone happens to run into him during the dead of night, they'll find that he's keeping to the shadows and has himself covered in a robe. He'll talk if he's found, at least at first. But he's not keen to reveal himself and will teleport away immediately.

The next morning, though, Kurt will be walking around town in the appearance of a normal human kid, exploring the various parts of the towns, mostly the shops and Welcome Center. Later, he even makes a voice post, sounding just a bit timid as he does so.]

Hello everyone, my name is Kurt. I ah, arrived yesterday. I was wondering if any of my friends were already here? [Seemed reasonable to ask... so many other people arrived to people who already knew them.]

[He's not really sure if he's in the right place for this, but spotting Rydia, he makes his way over to her. She's a little... odd, but not too odd for his standards. He does have to wonder a bit a the hair.]

Excuse me.

[Glancing over, she flashes him a warm smile.]

Oh, hello! I'm Rydia. Please, come in.

[He feels a little more welcome at that and relaxes.]

I'm Kurt. I'm a... new feather, I guess. [His wings twitch a small bit involuntarily.]

[Rydia nods, placing aside some blankets for the time being.]

Welcome to Luceti, Kurt. I know how strange it is to arrive here, but hopefully we can help make it a little easier for you and all the other new arrivals here. Please, have a seat. Do you want any refreshments?

[He finds himself taking a seat. He had actually hoped to be in and out, but somehow he feels like it would be rude to refuse now.]

Ah, yes. Anything is fine.

[Rydia slips into the kitchen for a moment. She has been thinking about grabbing some iced tea for herself, so she does just that and brings an extra glass with her. Setting that one down on the coffee table before him, she sit in the opposite chair.]

So, how can I help?

[He nods appreciatively at the iced tea, but doesn't drink from it quite yet.]

I had hoped to find a place to stay while I'm here. [He felt a little guilty just teleporting into the first empty building he could find. He needed to be more tactful.] But I'm not sure which places are taken.

Hm....

[Rydia reaches over and snags a map of the town.]

Most newcomers stay in the community housing buildings.

[She sets it down and points to them in turn.]

They tend to get a house later on, when they have people to share a space with. As for what's available, you'll have more luck with the upper levels of the buildings. Those are fairly new additions and we've been without New Feathers for a while, so I doubt that they've had time to be filled. If you choose Community Building Seven, you should be aware that children are likely to be drawn to that one. I don't know if that's a deterrent for you or not, but children without parents or guardians are welcome there, and adults willing to help them out live there as well.

[He considers the map. As long as his holo imager is working, being close to the town center wouldn't be so bad. In fact, he remembers this being mentioned before.]

There is no one watching them in building seven anymore, is there? At least, Professor Raine had said as much...

[Rydia nods, frowning a bit at that. She would move there, but for various reasons that just wouldn't work.]

For the moment, but she's asking people to consider moving there, so I'm certain that will change soon. People are quick to volunteer and help out, as you'll see soon enough. If that's something you're interested in, I'm sure your help would be welcome. But if that's not for you, there's plenty of room elsewhere.

[He wasn't strictly thinking of volunteering, but still, maybe it would be more like the Institute? Familiar.]

I ah, don't have much experience with little kids. But it's close to the stores. [And a bit more private than four. Less likely for him to get noticed 'porting around.]

[Rydia nods, not about to push people into roles that they aren't completely comfortable with.]

It is convenient, yes. I live at the edge of town and I don't regret it, but if reaching the stores is a priority, then I can see sticking closer to the center of town instead.

Distance is not a problem... [Teleporting helps with that.] Still, I think I will check it out. [He looks up.] Thank you.

[She smiles and nods in response.]

[He takes a drink from his iced tea, feeling a little bad he hadn't bothered to before now. And here it looked like they were already done here...]

Yes, thank you, Miss Rydia. Is it okay if I look at the map a bit more?

[A quick nod.]

Of course! Take your time. In fact, I have copies so you're welcome to have that one.

Oh, thank you! [He picks up the map and folds it... no, it doesn't go like that. He tries a different way and... he settles for rolling it up.] I'd repay you, but there's not any money here, so...

[Rydia shakes her head.]

Don't worry about it. If you can help other newcomers and point them here, that's thanks enough for me.

[He nods, standing up.] Yes, of course.

[She picks up her glass of iced tea and stands up, flashing a bright smile.]

See you around town!

[Kurt does his best to quickly drain the rest of his tea before setting the glass down.]

You too! [And with that, he's out the door.]
