[Best case scenario? Beast Boy needs a long talk about keeping his mouth shut when this is all over. The other leading theory is the Slade one, but Slade's a leading theory regardless of what it is Robin's trying to research.]

... the reason I know so much is because I already knew about you before I was even in Luceti. Because... in my world? People have Batman and Robin on their lunchboxes.

People do that in Gotham too. Street vendors sell bootlegs in the slums.

[He knows that's not what Kurt meant. It's just that it's one thing to stalk around in the standard-issue magic book and hear others' adventures in being told they're fictional, but entirely something else to have the lens pointed in the other direction. It doesn't sit well.]

[Well unfortunately he's taking this to mean Robin isn't getting it.]

You guys are comic book characters. At least, in my word. [And practically every version of Earth.] It's weird. I know, man. People have told me that too.

Where are you now? [He's got more questions that are less journal-safe, filters or no filters.]

[He's in his room, but it's better to not have Robin climbing in his window. And Kurt can be anywhere in a flash.]

I want you to prove it. [He tries to announce himself without startling Kurt too terribly.]

[Nah bro, Kurt knew Robin was coming. Eventually. So he just turns around and. Tries to be casual. And not offended that Robin needs to grill him.]

... would Batman's secret identity work? I don't really remember what yours is supposed to be. [He's not a geek, okay. Everyone knows who Batman is, but Robin? That's just nerd knowledge.]

Clark Kent! [... no wait. That's Superman.] Err. I mean, Bruce Wayne. Sorry.

[That's just weird twice over. It's also a lot to digest. He changes the subject rather than dwelling on being phased.]

In that case, I want to make sure we have one thing perfectly clear. Maybe your universe's comic books are a little slow on the uptake, but I am no one's sidekick. My partnership with Batman is over. It has been for a long time now.

[Well technically Robin should be Nightwing, but. Kurt is not much of a comic book buff. He just thought some of the movies were pretty good.]

Okay, okay! [Not going to make a big deal out of that.] The Teen Titans keeps you too busy, yeah?

[Well technically there've been enough Robins to start some kind of foster care service by then anyway. It's all semantics after a point.]

...Something like that. [He might be a little bit bitter.]

[Well. He's not touching that, then. He doesn't know what kind of bad blood is there.]

Well... anyway, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. But Gar said it wouldn't be a good idea if you knew. So... I just never said anything. Because I know it's weird, yeah? When people recognize me from comic books or whatever, it's kind of hard to be friends with them after.

....Gar? [Okay who is that and what the hell does he know about how Robin would or would not react to things?!]

... Beast Boy, sorry. [Wait, does Robin not know Beast Boy's secret identity? Kurt wonders.]

[He knows in the analytical sort of "Logan-comma-Garfield-Mark-AKA-Changeling-AKA-Beast-Boy" way, but he's never heard anyone actually use the name out loud. It's not the kind of thing he'd admit to knowing, anyway. That's past proper creeping limits and even Robin knows it.]

Is that a name he gave you or something else you read in a comic book?

Me and Kitty got him to use it. [A small shrug.] It's what we all called him, except Rogue. She used B.B. or Beast Boy. [But other than that, the X-Men household is rather used to just using people's real names. And they made Beast Boy adapt like the evil monsters they were.]

[Oh. But there's one other thing.] Ah, but between you and me? I had never even heard of him at all before Luceti. [So Robin you are so much more famous than your teammates.]

Sounds like he was really comfortable here. [Maybe even more at home than he'd been at the tower. Yet another idea that doesn't sit right.]

These books of yours.. Have you been able to find them in the shops or library? I'd like to take a look at some of them.

[Well, that's because the X-House is a house. And not a superhero tower! But that's neither here nor there.]

Sometimes they're in the library. But dude... you should just leave them alone, yeah? I know you like to know everything about everything, but that's the kind of thing you should leave alone. Some secrets are better left that way.

[... and he really doesn't want Robin muddling with Kurt's own past.]

If I'm going to have an existential crisis dropped in my lap, I at least deserve to know what's out there.

Maybe. But you're better off not knowing. I still think I'm real. I think you're real. [Hell. He has to. His girlfriend is from Robin's world (or so he thinks).]

This isn't the sort of thing where opinions matter. We either are or we aren't. We don't have all the facts yet.
