Something simple and mindless to talk about.]

Okay, so everyone. You're on a boat and it shipwrecks on a deserted island. You can only take one thing with you from home. What is it?

... ohh, right, and if you have any kind of superpowers that would get you off the island, those don't count. Or for making new stuff and- actually, yeah, no superpowers at all. Just stuff you bring!

Oh, definitely both. There's dangerous reefs all around the island! Not to mention predators on the island... cannibals, maybe sometimes pirates... that kind of stuff.

In that case... Assuming that I can't summon them there myself in this scenario, a good sword. That way, I can fend off any cannibals or pirates, get food, and get supplies to build some kind of shelter. Then I'd just have to survive until some kind of ship passes by, or steal a pirate ship.

And I think it's supposed to be for the desert, not a deserted island.

Probably, if the pirates aren't like the type that we have here. ...I'd probably leave the captain, first mate, and other people with significant influence over the crew on the island, to prevent them from stirring up trouble. Once that's settled, I would take the necessary people, like cooks and navigators, and the lower-ranked pirates with me to maintain the ship.
