Drei - [Action/Voice]

[With his first week of school in Luceti over, Kurt has taken advantage of the day off to make something a little special. A pizza, in fact. It's for a special little friend he made, so given how ridiculous this is, he's done his best to make the pizza when Kitty wasn't at home to call him out for it. Once it's done, he'll be appearing (quite literally) at building 4, teleporting to the sixth floor to knock on the door of Maes Hughes. Hopefully your daughter warned you that she ordered a pizza for lunch.

After putting up with Brigade shenanigans and generally hanging around the plaza area, he'll even make a voice post. Crazy, innit? This is mostly in response to seeing a certain person claiming to be a demon. Something that... struck him rather odd.]

When you think of a demon, what exactly do they look like in your mind? And [a hesitant pause here] what would you do if you saw one like that?

[LATER after being bombarded with how cool demons are, Kurt says something over the journals that will elicit less freaky responses:]

School wasn't so bad here. I can't believe we actually get homework though. What happens if we fail?

Well. Again, it depends what it's doing. I've had more than a few of them try to kill me. But I've met some who serve as senators and others that are just like normal people.

Hell, I think my Dad works with one in his office now and then.

[How's that for an answer, Kurt?]

A Netherworld called Veldime. And before you ask, it's not anything like Hell. I get that question a lot. Humans and angels can live in Netherworlds too, not just demons.

[He was the one to bring in the religious aspect of it, though with demons it's hard to avoid it. Luka herself doesn't really "believe" in anything, she just knows her facts, and her facts state that a demon is nothing to worry about just by its name or appearance.]

Are you surprised about the kind of demons that can be found here?

[He has to think about it before responding.] Fangs, wings, claws... I don't know. It depends on what kind of demon we're talking about. But it's common for people to think of demons in a negative connotation.

The word "demon" has several meanings depending on the culture. For example, in most of the Christian world, a "demon" is a lesser devil and servant of Satan. In Japan, "demon" and "devils" are a sort of youkai that typically dwell in Makai, their realm beyond our own. It really varies widely.

My familiar, Koakuma, is a succubus. Her name translates to "little devil", as she is a lesser demon summoned from Makai itself. Perhaps you should speak with her.

Uh---yeah, I actually took a demon to the prom.

Well, a former demon.

Just depends on what they're doin', I guess! Does it matter what they look like?

Uh, there's a few people here from my world, but otherwise I'm not entirely sure.
folklorist: (Never seen anything like it)

Mm most people see them as being evil horned creatures with wings. Ah not all of them are like that though. It's a shame that media and culture has given them such a negative name. They're not all bad.

There might be more people like that here than you think. Villagers tend to settle into two categories; those that are hostile and those that aren't. Those who have been here a while are grateful for whoever is in the latter category, whatever their appearance.

Maybe he just roams from fireplace to fireplace? Next time I see him, I'll ask.

[And you're just more fodder for Haruki's grand Brigade plans He totally knows your name since you're a newbie, but no actual conversation yet.] Yeah, that's why it's hard to pin down what a demon is; a lot of worlds have different descriptions for monsters, and even differentiate them from demons. Other places, they're one and the same.

It doesn't in most of the worlds I know of, though. Mostly because demons don't exist in many of them, I think.

But why do you ask?
